Increasingly, organizations regard the management of environment, health and safety as a strategic issue, whereas in the past it has often been dealt with at operational level. This has been reflected in the education of EHS professionals, with training focusing on activities at workplace level. Whilst this is still a key part of their activities, many EHS managers are now required to advise their boards and assist in integrating the topic into the organization’s business planning.
This still needs a knowledge of the risks and how these can be managed, however, it also requires the EHS professional to understand the dynamics of the business to enable them to influence the corporate decision making process.
Cardinus Risk Management has now developed a safety leadership programme to provide EHS professionals with the knowledge and skills to make the transition from operational to strategic EHS management. Presented by Barry Holt, Head of Health and Safety Consultancy, Cardinus Risk Management, the Safety Leadership Programme, endorsed by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM), has been developed in association with the Royal Mail Group.
